  • Richmond County District Attorney Michael E. McMahon today announced that he has recruited two new staff members, both Staten Island residents, to join his team in the roles of Criminal Court Supervisor and Press Secretary. He has also named a new head of Legal Support Staff.

  • Richmond County District Attorney Michael E. McMahon today announced that he has named three new bureau chiefs, all Staten Island residents, to head the office’s Investigations Bureau, Trials Bureau and Criminal Court Bureau. Additionally, three new and experienced Staten Island natives have been hired as Assistant District Attorneys to join the Narcotics Bureau, Investigations Bureau, and Trials Bureau.

  • D.A. McMahon Creates Victim Services Unit, names lead Victim Advocate Supervisor
  • Staten Island District Attorney Michael E. McMahon today announced that he has created a new Victim Services Unit within the Richmond County District Attorney’s Office that will be comprised of six Victim’s Advocates and whose mission is to provide support services to individuals who have witnessed or been victimized by crime on Staten Island. The advocates in this unit are dedicated to empowering and guiding victims and witnesses through the criminal justice process, a critical function of the District Attorney’s office, made even more important by the impending opening of the Staten Island Family Justice Center. McMahon also announced that he has named veteran Victim Advocate and Staten Island resident, Nicole Rice, to head this new unit.

  • DA McMahon: Staten Island man Sentenced to Life in Prison for Double Murder
  • Richmond County District Attorney Michael E. McMahon today announced that TYRELL BROWN was sentenced to two consecutive terms of life in prison without the possibility of parole after previously being convicted of both Murder in the First and Second Degree for killing Devon Powell and of Murder in the First and Second Degree for killing Kuwan Collins. Additionally, he was also sentenced to 25 years in prison after previously being convicted of Robbery in the First Degree for stealing a 2006 Hummer.

  • D.A. McMahon creates Domestic Violence Bureau, names Bureau Chief
  • Staten Island District Attorney Michael E. McMahon today announced that he has created a separate and dedicated Domestic Violence Bureau within the Richmond County District Attorney’s Office that will work solely on handling the borough’s growing number of domestic violence cases. The addition of a Domestic Violence Bureau, coupled with the soon-to-be opened Family Justice Center, will ensure that every victim and every case is given the proper attention it deserves. McMahon requested and was granted the funding to make this historic change and increase the capacity of the office to handle domestic violence cases in his FY2017 budget proposal to the City of New York. McMahon also announced today that he has named Tuesday Muller-Mondi, a Staten Island resident and the former Deputy Bureau Chief of the RCDA Special Victim’s Bureau, to be the inaugural Chief of the Domestic Violence Bureau.

  • D.A. McMahon: Staten Island Man Indicted for burglarizing homes of senior citizens
  • Staten Island District Attorney Michael E. McMahon today announced that DOMINIC POVEROMO has been indicted on charges including five counts of Burglary in the Second Degree as a Hate Crime, among other charges, for separate incidents in which the defendant allegedly stole cash sums from the homes of octogenarians, all women, after gaining entry into each of the victims’ residences through deception and trickery.

  • Staten Island District Attorney Michael E. McMahon today announced that ANTHONY LOPEZ has been indicted on charges including Murder in the Second Degree, Concealment of a Human Corpse, Strangulation in the First Degree and Tampering with Physical Evidence, for killing Obiamaka Aduba and wheeling her body along the street on a dolly.

  • D.A. McMahon: Actions and Strategic Steps Taken to Tackle Rise in Domestic Violence
  • Staten Island District Attorney Michael E. McMahon today reaffirmed his office’s mission to helping and protecting victims of domestic violence, noting the series of actions and strategic steps made in the past six months within the Richmond County District Attorney’s Office to better address the dramatic rise in domestic abuse cases on Staten Island. Among several other changes (listed below), McMahon recently announced the creation of a separate and dedicated Domestic Violence Bureau, which will work exclusively on handling the surge in domestic violence cases. The office has also launched the new Victims Services Unit, with a dedicated Supervising Victim’s Advocate that will prioritize the treatment of victims and ensure that they receive the attention and care they deserve.
