District Attorney Donovan to Swear-In
Staten Island’s Newest Prosecutor
John Viggiano, 29, a native of
New City, Joins District Attorney’s Office
STATEN ISLAND, NY- In the Office of the Richmond County District Attorney,
a ceremony was held to formally swear-in John Viggiano, 29, to his position
as Richmond County Assistant District Attorney (ADA). The oath was administered
by District Attorney Daniel M. Donovan, Jr. and witnessed by Richmond
County Clerk Stephen J. Fiala.
“I am pleased to welcome John Viggiano to serve in our Criminal
Court Bureau,” stated District Attorney Donovan in announcing
the sixth ADA to join his staff since taking office in January. “The
people of Staten Island will be well served by his education, experience
and dedication to public service.”
A native of New City, New York, upon his appointment, Mr. Viggiano
relocated to the Grymes Hill section of Staten Island. He is joining
the Office of the District Attorney from the Manhattan office of Clifford
Chance US, LLP.
"I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to serve the people
of Staten Island,” stated Mr. Viggiano. “I look forward
to contributing my efforts to help District Attorney Donovan achieve
his vision of a safer and more peaceful Staten Island community."
Mr. Viggiano is a May 2002 graduate of the New York University School
of Law and earned a Bachelor’s Degree, in Political Science, magna
cum laude, from SUNY-Albany in 1998. While attending the NYU School
of Law, he was a representative of the International Law Society and
a
McKay Scholar, awarded to the top 25% of student body after three semesters.
Additionally, while pursuing his studies at NYU, Mr. Viggiano served
as a Public Policy Advocate for the Brennan Center Public Policy Advocate
Clinic and previously served as a Claimant Advocate at the University’s
Unemployment Action Center. He has been admitted to the bar in the State
of New York.
John Viggiano will be paid $42,500 in his position.
