Raviv Gabbay, 27, to Serve 18 Years in Prison
for Suffocation Murder of Half-Sister, Aliza Parsy in her Sea View Home

STATEN ISLAND, NY - Richmond County District Attorney
Daniel M. Donovan, Jr. today announced a guilty plea has been entered
by Raviv Gabbay (DOB: 7/19/1978), of East 12th Street, Brooklyn, for
the suffocation of his half-sister, Aliza Parsy, 18, of Staten Island,
on August 10, 2005. The defendant entered a plea of guilty to the charge
of 1st degree Manslaughter before Judge Leonard P. Rienzi in State Supreme
Court, and will be sentenced to 18 years in prison on May 16, 2006.
Gabbay, was placed under arrest September 19, 2005 and later indicted
on charges of 2nd degree Murder, 1st and 2nd degree Burglary, and related
charges. While in custody Gabbay made a statement that implicating himself
in the suffocation death of his half-sister within her home on Rupert
Avenue in the Sea View section of the borough. He was linked to the
murder by DNA recovered at the scene. The murder followed Gabbay illegally
entering the home shared by the victim and her mother, who is also the
defendant’s mother.
The investigation of the case was conducted by Assistant District Attorney
Wanda DeOliveira, Deputy Chief of the District Attorney’s Sex
Crimes/Special Victims Bureau, and Assistant District Attorney Duncan
Brown, who are prosecuting the case under the supervision of Assistant
District Attorney Yolanda L. Rudich, Bureau Chief. The defendant was
represented by Paul Lemole, Esq.
