D.A. Donovan Announces Swearing-In
of ADA Morrie Kleinbart as New Bureau Chief of S.I. D.A.’s Appeals
Bureau

Island D.A. after 20 years in New York County D.A.’s Office ***
STATEN ISLAND, NY - Richmond
County District Attorney Daniel M. Donovan, Jr. today announced the
formal swearing-in of his office’s Bureau Chief of the Appeals
Bureau, Assistant District Attorney Morrie I. Kleinbart. He is replacing
former Assistant District Attorney Karen F. McGee who resigned from
the office following 24 years of service.
District Attorney Donovan
stated, “I am delighted to welcome someone of Morrie Kleinbart’s
caliber to my office. He is bringing a wealth of experience that will
well serve the people of this community and ensure that our convictions
are upheld when appeals occur.”

own ship,' if you will,” stated ADA Kleinbart. “I am very
excited about joining the office and look forward to vindicating the
faith District Attorney Donovan has shown in me by appointing me chief
of the Appeals Bureau."
ADA Kleinbart, 51, a Manhattan
resident, is a 1983 cum laude graduate of Touro College and earned a
juris doctorate, with honors, from the Rutgers University School of
Law – Newark, in 1986. He joined the Richmond County D.A.’s
office earlier this month following 20 years of service with the New
York County District Attorney’s office, beginning in August 1986.
Since February 2000, ADA Kleinbart had served as Senior Appellate Counsel
and Director of Habeas Corpus Legislation. Earlier, he had spent 4 years
as Senior Appellate Counsel in Charge of Subpoena and Discovery Litigation
Group.
He is admitted to practice
in New York and New jersey as well as before the United States Supreme
Court , the United States District Court for the Southern and Eastern
Districts of New York and the District of New Jersey, and the Court
of Appeals for the Second and Third Circuits.
